Havat Gilad settler who deserted IDF sentenced to 30 days in jail
IDF soldier Shimon Weizman, who announced that he will not return to the army because his Havat Gilad home was razed by security forces, was sentenced to 30 days in jail for disobeying orders.
Commander Col. Oren Abman dismissed Weizman from the Kfir Brigade, where he served. Abman said that the continuation of the deserter's military service will be considered. Sources close to Weizman identified the punishment as a vengeful measure taken by an army that "crushes the trust of the settlers." (Yair Altman)
