Gene Simmons brings family to Israel

Bassist of American hard rock band Kiss, who was born in Haifa, to visit native land with wife Shannon Tweed and their children as part of reality show

American singer and musician Gene Simmons, the bassist in hard rock band Kiss, will visit Israel this month.

Ynet has learned that Simmons, who was born Chaim Witz in Haifa, will arrive with his family to shoot episodes for the "Gene Simmons' Family Jewels" reality show, which documents his family's life and his relationship with his wife, former Playboy playmate and actress Shannon Tweed.

Despite Simmons' Israeli roots and the fact that he is fluent in Hebrew, Kiss never performed in Israel. Now Simmons will be visiting his native land in front of the cameras.

Simmons, 61, was born in Haifa to a mother who survived the Auschwitz concentration camp. He immigrated with his family to the United States at the age of eight.

In the early 1970s he founded the Kiss, turning it into one of the biggest rock bands of all times, which is easily identified by its members' face paint. In 2006 he got his own reality television series.

In Kiss, Simmons is well known as "The Demon", with his frightening faces and "blood" spitting on stage.

In addition to his musical talent, Simmons is also knows for his marketing skills, turning Kiss into an empire of products – starting with clothes, through credit cards, and up to coffins decorated with the band's logo.
