Libya calls on UN to lift sanctions
Libya's Foreign Minister Mussa Kussa has sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council, demanding that sanctions imposed on Muammar Gaddafi's regime be lifted and claiming that only a "modicum" of force was used against protestors.
According to Kussa, the Libyan government was surprised by the sanctions. "The Security Council must resist the countries threatening to use force against Libya," he added. (AFP)
