Rebels said on Saturday they had seen a downed warplane in the area of the eastern town of Ras Lanuf, which was seized from forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi forces a day earlier. "I saw with my own eyes a downed plane and two dead pilots. They were strapped into seats and one had his head blown open," said Ahmed Harram, an unarmed supporter of the rebels.
"It was a fighter plane. I couldn't tell how many bodies there were as they were in pieces," said rebel fighter Tawfiq al Ushilia. Planes and helicopters had circled over rebel positions on Saturday and rebels had fired at them. (Reuters)
