UN chief: Israel should release prisoners as trust-building step
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on Israel to release thousands of Palestinian political prisoners, saying such a step would help build trust between the two sides.
During a hearing held in Vienna, Palestinian Prisoner Affairs Minister Issa Karake accused Israel of violating basic human rights by detaining children and holding prisoners in custody for long periods of time without trial. (New Agencies)
