UN probe opened into torture by Gadhafi forces

A UN special investigator says he has opened a probe into allegations of torture used by Libyan ruler Muammar Gadhafi's forces.

The UN's special rapporteur for torture, Juan Mendez, confirmed Wednesday he is looking into "allegations under the Gadhafi regime" since his forces began their brutal suppression of protests and crackdown on opponents last month. (AP)
