Residents: Pro-Gaddafi forces in Zawiyah square

Pro-Gaddafi forces entered the main square of the Libyan town of Zawiyah on Wednesday as rebels fighting to hold it pulled back, a fighter contacted by Reuters said.

A local doctor confirmed the report and said the death toll in the day's fighting was at least 40 and probably many more. (Reuters)
