Portugal minister meets Gaddafi envoy in Lisbon
An envoy from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi met Portugal's foreign minister on Wednesday to explain Tripoli's view of the conflict in the north African country, the Portuguese foreign ministry said. Portugal will chair the United Nations Security Council's committee on sanctions for Libya starting this week.
"Foreign Minister Luis Amado agreed to meet today in Lisbon with a Libyan emissary, on the request of the latter, in order to receive information on the situation in Libya," a foreign ministry statement said. The ministry said later the two had met in a Lisbon hotel. (Reuters)
