Netanyahu: Must build security fence in eastern Negev
None
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured the fence near the border with Egypt on Tuesday and later spoke in a conference in Eilat saying: "You should see what goes on there now. We will secure our borders not only against infiltrators but also to prevent terror attacks from Sinai. If we block off one border they'll come in from the Arabah, so we'll have to also build a fence in the east."
"A country that wants to exist and keep its identity must control its borders," he stressed. "That means to build these fences in order to protect the Negev and the State. The fact is that only a small part of the population lives in the Negev and the population composition keeps changing in ways no one ever imagined or wanted – it calls for action, not statements like we've heard from previous governments."
