Around 2,000 mostly Shi'ite Lebanese demonstrators rallied in central Beirut on Wednesday in support of an uprising by Bahrain's Shi'ite Muslim majority. Waving Lebanese and Bahraini flags and banners of the Shi'ite group Hezbollah, which organised the rally, they chanted slogans for change to sweep the Middle East.
Bahrain's Sunni rulers have cracked down on protests in the Gulf kingdom, where the Shi'ite majority complain they have been discriminated against for decades. (Rueters)
