US official says Gaddafi getting upper hand

A senior US State Department official says forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi have made significant gains on the ground against the rebels.
William Burns said Thursday that Gaddafi forces are roughly 100 miles (160 kilometers) from the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. Burns said Gadhafi is taking full advantage of his military firepower in turning back rebels in Libya. Burns testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. (AP)
