France calls for restraint on both sides in Gaza

France said on Tuesday it was concerned about an escalation in violence in the Gaza Strip this week and called on both sides to show restraint.

Foreign ministry spokeswoman Christine Fages told a news briefing France was worried by events on Monday where militants shot mortars and rockets at the Jewish state and Israel launched five air strikes. (Reuters)
