UN rights office urges Syria protest deaths probe

The UN's human rights office has urged Syria to investigate the death of six protesters who were killed during anti-government demonstrations in recent days.

Rupert Colville, a spokesman for the Geneva-based office, says the government "should carry out an independent, transparent and effective investigation into the killings" in the southern city of Daraa between Friday and Sunday. (AP)
