US Defense Secretary arrives in Egypt for talks

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates arrived in Cairo on Wednesday to meet senior Egyptian government and military officials, the US embassy said in a statement.

Gates is making his first visit to the Arab state since Hosni Mubarak quit and handed power to a military council led by Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi. (Reuters)
