Knesset approves bill that requires foreigners to get permit to buy land

The Knesset plenum approved in second and third readings the law that requires foreign nationals to obtain special permits to buy land in Israel. According to the law, the Israel Land Administration will decide who will get these permits. The defense minister, the foreign minister and other factors will contribute to the decision process as well.
Knesset members Shelly Yachimovich (Labor), Nachman Shai (Kadima), Uri Orbach (Habayit Hayehudi) and Yariv Levin (Likud) initiated the bill. (Roni Sofer)
