Knesset approves bill boosting female representation in inquiry commissions

None

The Knesset unanimously approved a bill Wednesdy in second and third reading proposing to boost quotas for female representation in national, governmental and public inquiry commissions.

Kadima faction chairwoman Dalia Itzik said: "There is no doubt that women's participation in inquiry commissions is extremely important, from the public's outlook on equality as well as from the women's own contribution to the commissions. In six national inquiry commissions established in Israel since 1995, out of 20 members only two were women." (Roni Sofer)
