Obama calls on Ivory Coast's Gbagbo to stand down

US President Barack Obama on Tuedsay called on Ivory Coast incumbent Laurent Gbagbo to stand down immediately and order his fighters to lay down their arms.
He said he supported the role UN peacekeepers are playing as they try to protect civilians and welcomes the efforts of French forces who are supporting that mission. (Reuters)
