Israeli diplomats ask US for help in escaping Ivory Coast city
Israeli, Indian and Japanese diplomats and some 20 journalists staying on the Ivory Coast have sought assistance from the US in leaving the district of Cocody in the city of Abidjan, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State William Fitzgerald told AFP on Wednesday.
The residence of the Japanese ambassador in Abidjan was attacked Wednesday by "mercenaries", who then fired rockets and cannon fire from the building, the diplomat told AFP. (AFP)
