Afghan police: 3 suicide bombers hit police HQ

A provincial police chief in southern Afghanistan says at least three suicide bombers have hit a regional police headquarters in Kandahar. He says the strike was followed by insurgents who stormed the building, sparking a gun battle with security troops that is still going on.

Police Chief Khan Mohammad Mujahid says the bombers blew themselves up inside the complex on Thursday. He says the insurgents attacked Afghan security forces with rocket-propelled grenade launchers and machine-guns. (AP)
