Student protest in Syria turns violent

A Syrian activist says a rare protest inside the campus of Damascus University has turned violent.

The activist in Damascus says security forces beat up and arrested several of the students at the university's science faculty Monday. Hundreds of students had been shouting for freedoms and unity among Syrians. (AP)
