Saudi Arabia frees 13 Shiites held for protesting

Saudi authorities have freed 13 Shi'ite activists detained for taking part in demonstrations calling for the release of jailed relatives in the oil-producing east, activists said on Wednesday.
Minority Shi'ites have staged protests in the Eastern Province to demand the release of prisoners and also to call on political reforms in the monarchy. Police dispersed several marches and made arrests for defying a ban on demonstrations. (Reuters)
