Aharon Franco appointed as Israel Prison Service commissioner

Aharon Franco was appointed as the new commissioner of the Israel Prison Service, and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. Franco, who replaces Lieutenant General Benny Kaniak, previously served as the Jerusalem District police commander.

During the appointment ceremony, which took place in Ramla, Franco said that he toured the prison service facilities and saw "a whole world behind bars, a world that I am eager to discover and be a part of in the coming years." (Raanan Ben-Zur)
