Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed David Meidan, a senior section chief at the Mossad, as the person responsible for efforts to return captive soldier Gilad Shalit.
Netanyahu informed Shalit's parents Noam and Aviva of the appointment during a meeting held in his residence. (Attila Somfalvi and Omri Efraim)
