Qassam rocket hits western Negev

Gaza-fired rocket disturbs south's peace mere hours before Passover Seder. No injuries reported

A Qassam rocket fired from northern Gaza exploded Monday in an open area near a Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council kibbutz.

The Color Red alert sounded in the area, as well is in Sderot. No injuries or damage were reported.

Monday's rocket fire breaches what was a relatively quiet week in southern Israel, following several days of incessant rocket fire.

Sderot Mayor David Buskila told Ynet that, "Regrettably, (sirens) have become part of our lives. Each one takes up back to a time we would rather forget."

Nevertheless, Buskila noted that the city received no special security directives regarding Passover.

The same can be said for the south's regional councils. Yoav Peled and Kobi Harush, chief security officers for Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council and Sderot (respectively), said they were instructed to just "keep alert, as usual."
