Turkish president: 'Israel cannot afford to be perceived as apartheid island'

Turkish President Abdullah Gul claimed, "Israel cannot afford to be perceived as an apartheid island surrounded by an Arab sea of anger and hostility," in an op-ed he wrote for the New York Times.

In the article he said that "a dignified and viable Palestine, living side by side with Israel, will not diminish the security of Israel, but fortify it." Gul added that Turkey is ready to use its "full capacity to facilitate constructive negotiations." (Ynet)
