Defense Minister Ehud Barak published a statement in response to a declaration of Palestinian independence read aloud by left-wing activists in Tel Aviv.
"I call on everyone to be responsible. The state stands before fateful decisions and we all want Israel to be safe and strong," he said. "There are difficult challenges that await us, but we must remember that we are all brothers." (Attila Somfalvi)
