France supports Abbas' efforts to establish state

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said after meeting with PA President Mahmoud Abbas at the Elysee Palace in Paris that he supports Abbas' efforts to establish an independent state. Abbas is expected to declare statehood in September. Abbas said the Sarkozy also praised his initiative to reconcile Fatah and Hamas. (AFP)
