Noam and Aviva, the parents of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, reportedly met Tuesday with David Meidan, the newly appointed government negotiation tasked with heading the efforts meant to secure the safe retrieval of the Hamas-held soldier.
Noan Shalit refused to confirm the meeting, saying only that the family "meets with the various elements involved in the negotiations on a regular basis."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the Shalit family of Meidan's appointment last week, following the resignation of Hagai Hadas.
Meidan is a senior Mossad officer, who – according to the Prime Minister's Office – was involved in various past efforts in the Shalit case.
