About 50 women marched Saturday afternoon in front of the Parliament in Damascus, in solidarity with the residents of Deraa and Duma, two cities that have been besieged by the Syrian army for nearly a week, a human rights activist told AFP.
The protesters wore scarves and shawls and carried signs reading "Stop killing, Stop the siege." According to the activist, the protesters chanted: "Since men are silent, women speak." The security services intervened and arrested at least eleven of the protesters. (AFP)
