France's interior minister says French authorities have evidence that weapons from war-torn Libya have reached areas of the Sahara Desert where al-Qaeda's North Africa branch is active.
Claude Gueant says the weapons have made it to the Sahara's southern Sahel zone occupied by al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb - notably in Mali. Speaking on RTL radio Wednesday, Gueant didn't specify whether the "worrying" flows of weapons had originated in areas held by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's forces or rebel-controlled zones. (AP)
