Signing of Palestinian unity agreement begins

The signing of the reconciliation agreement between the Palestinian movements Hamas and Fatah in Cairo has began after a lengthy delay, apparently caused by an argument over seating arrangements and the participation of Hamas Politburo chief Khaled Mashaal.

As per the compromise that allowed the ceremony to start, Mashaal will speak at the event, but will not sit next to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the central stage. (Elior Levy and news agencies)
