Iraq to disband court that tried Saddam Hussein

None

The Iraqi government says it will disband a court set up after the 2003 US-led invasion to prosecute Saddam Hussein and other regime members.

Court spokesman Raid Juhi says the decision was made because the court had finished its cases. The government announced the planned closing in a statement Wednesday. The Iraqi High Criminal Tribunal's first trial was against Saddam, who was hanged in 2006 for his role in the deaths of over 140 Shiite Muslims following an attempt on his life in 1982. (AP)
