Report: Abbas hoping to keep Fayad as PM
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is interested in keeping current Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad in his role in the new government which will be established following the unity deal with Hamas the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported Sunday.
It was also reported that Abbas believes that appointing Fayyad to form a government will be seen as sending a positive message to the world. Abbas wants to make it clear to the international community that a future Palestinian government is committed to the same plan as the current government. (Elior Levy)
