Paz Aviation Assets announced Sunday that fueling of aircrafts at the Ben Gurion Airport can be resumed after tests conducted in recent days showed the jet fuel meets all relevant standards.
Paz is the airport's only jet fuel provider. The company did not provide an explanation for the oily substance which it said caused a malfunction in a plane ready to take off last week. The Airports Authority has yet to announce if and when fueling will be resumed. The National Infrastructure Ministry said the matter is being examined.
According to Paz, a team of leading chemists reviewed the test results and determined the fuel was safe to use. "At this point the company is unable to assess the effect of the incident on the company's operations," the statement said.
The contamination discovered in jet fuel lat week caused severe delays in Israel's airports. Israir said that the damage caused to airlines may total in several million shekels. Two commissions of inquiry were tasked with investigating the matter.
