The Haifa District Court has rejected an appeal by Arab students to allow the leader of the Islamic Movement's northern branch, Sheikh Raed Salah, to speak at the city's university. University President Aaron Ben Ze'ev had barred him from speaking there.
The court ruled that it was "highly likely" that Salah's speech would disrupt public welfare. Ben Ze'ev said following the ruling that he sees "great significance in the fact that the court rejected the appeal today of all days", referring to Memorial Day. (Aviad Glickman)
