Report: Abbas to serve as president, pm Palestinian gov't
According to the Maan news agency, Palestinian sources are claiming that a compromise has been reached between Fatah and Hamas according to which Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would also serve as the new Palestinian prime minister.
One of the sources said that Abbas would have two deputies – one from Hamas - Ismail Haniyeh or another appropriate candidate and another from Fatah – current Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. The report has not been confirmed. (Elior Levy)
