Video: 'Let's pull Shalit out of Gaza ourselves'

(Video) Ultimatum issued to Israel, Hamas in video uploaded to internet. Group of four ad men threaten to break through Erez crossing if no prisoner swap seal is struck by June 21

VIDEO - A video uploaded to the world wide web calls Israelis to infiltrate Palestinian territory on June 21 if Israel and Hamas fail to reach a prisoner swap deal which will see captive soldier Gilad Shalit back home.

"We shall come to the Erez crossing and try to pull Shalit out ourselves," a video titled "We save Gilad on June 21" said.

Progress in negotiations to free the captive soldier has been noted in the past week. London-based newspaper al-Hayat reported Thursday that Hamas' military wing chief Ahmed al-Jabari has left Cairo and arrived in Gaza on Tuesday, having met Hamas leaders including Khaled Mashaal in Egypt. The two discussed guidelines for swap deal negotiations and Hamas' "red lines."

Senior Hamas elements told the paper that France and Turkey may serve as new mediators following Gerhard Konrad's resignation.

However, the same elements claimed that any third party would have to be vetted with Egypt. Earlier this week, it was reported that Cairo had reached an outline for a prisoner exchange deal, which was okayed by Hamas.

Behind the video are four ad men specializing in social activism online. They are planning to recruit more supporters via the internet. "We started working three weeks ago, before the Yoel Shalit incident," one of them said. "We checked what the people really think using Facebook. Banners and stickers will not get people on board."

The target date, June 21, "will not only be the longest day of the year," the video said.

"The aim is to create a framework which will enable people to cooperate. To get as many people to come to the Erez crossing on that day to protest. We've already been approached to make t-shirts."

'This isn't a provocation'

The ad men believe that the alternative to breaking the barrier is no less dangerous. "Many people told us that we're taking a chance and that Hamas will slaughter us," one of them said.

"Our answer is that the government does not represent the majority of the people in negotiating Shalit's release. We would like Shalit to be freed by putting great pressure on Hamas, by releasing prisoners or by military action. Perhaps breaking the barrier is risky, but I still trust the IDF."

This is not a provocation, they claim. "This will show the world we do more than click Like."

The ad men noted they did not coordinate their actions with the Shalit family. "Revolutions started this way all around the Middle East, and this is our protest."
