Elbit to build Macedonian army center

Israeli defense electronics manufacturer awarded contract valued at €43 million for establishment of helicopter pilot training center in southeastern European country

Israel's Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract for the establishment of a helicopter pilot training center for Macedonia's Defense and Security Forces, valued at €43 million (about $61.5 million).

Elbit will set up the center, acquire the aircraft, supply full mission simulators and operate the center for a period of eight years.

According to Yoram Shmuely, co-general manager of Elbit Systems' Aerospace Division, "Outsourcing in the areas of training, professional qualification and pilot training centers is growing worldwide and we hope that the significant experience and prestige that we have acquired in this area, both with the Israel Defense Forces and with other distinguished customers, will bring additional projects worldwide."

Elbit also works with the Israel Air Force's Flight Academy, supplying it with simulators and a training aircraft.
