Syrian forces backed by tanks stormed the town of Maaret al-Numan in northwestern Syria on Friday to disperse pro-democracy demonstrators, rights lawyer Razan Zaitouna said. "Residents are reporting three people killed, but their names are not available yet," Zaitouna said.
She added that at least 10 other civilians, whose names were obtained, have been killed in shootings by security forces in demonstrations against Baathist rule that took place in other towns and cities across Syria on Friday. (Reuters)
