Thousands of Czechs protest gov't reform plans

Tens of thousands of people have protested in the Czech capital on Saturday against government-proposed reforms that include attempts to reform pension and health care systems.

The protest was organized by the country's major umbrella organization of unions, who say that the proposals that would also include an increase in value-added tax are unjust and will harm employees. Blowing vuvuzelas and beating drums, the protesters marched to Czech capital's Wenceslas Square, disrupting traffic on a major highway. (AP)
