Algeria: Dozens demand departure of Syrian president

Dozens of protesters gathered on Saturday in front of the Syrian Embassy in Algiers to demand the departure of President Bashar al-Assad and his younger brother Maher al-Assad, the head of the Republican Guard, an AFP journalist said.

The demonstrators, mostly Syrians who settled in Algeria, demanded an end to the repression in their country, waving Syrian flags and photos of demonstrators who were killed in anti-Assad protests. (AFP)
