Militants storm Pakistani navy base
Islamist militants stormed a naval base in the Pakistani city of Karachi late Sunday, rocking the facility with fiery explosions and battling commandos dispatched to subdue them in one of the most brazen attacks in years, security officials said.
At least two navy officers were injured and an airplane was damaged, navy spokesman Salman Ali said, but the total number of casualties was unclear. Many ambulances were being held back because of the fighting inside the base that was still going on more than 2 1/2 hours after the attack began on Pakistani Naval Station Mehran. (AP)
