Katsav appeal panel judges known for strictness
Former president to have three judges hear appeal over rape conviction, sentence. All three are known to favor severe punishment
The Supreme Court announced Monday the names of the judges who will preside over former President Moshe Katsav's appeal in August.
Katsav is appealing his rape conviction, as well as his seven-year jail sentence.

The former president's defense team will argue before the honorable Miriam Naor, Edna Arbel and Salim Joubran.
The draw is considered unfavorable, as all three judges – especially Naor and Arbel – are known to rule on the austere side of the law.
The court will hold the appeal hearings on August 8, 10 and 11.
Katsav's appeal must be filed by June 28, and the State's rebuttal is due by July 28.
