Peres salutes first female major-general

President Shimon Peres commended newly appointed Brigadier-General Orna Barbivai on her promotion, saying it was important for women's status in Israel.
"You received the position rightfully since you fulfilled all of you previous posts in the IDF successfully," he told the first woman to be appointed major-general in the IDF. Barbivai was named the new head of the Personnel Directorate. (Ronen Medzini)
