MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer was elected chairman of the Labor Party's political committee, and presented a peace initiative based on former US President Bill Clinton's outline from 2000. The plan calls for the return to the1967 lines with land swaps, while large settlement blocs would remain under Israel's authority.
Ben-Eliezer slammed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that "Netanyahu's plan is a nonstarter. Nothing has changed, no one has changed. The only difference is that President Obama addressed the outline, without moving left or right." Ben-Eliezer proposed to renew the settlement construction moratorium as a trust-building measure, on the condition that the Israel and the Palestinians return to the negotiating table.
