The former director of Israel's Water Authority, Uri Shani, told the Knesset Finance Committee that the danger of Israel running totally out of fresh water has passed.
"The clear and present danger that threatened the economy with a total lack of water has drastically decreased and no longer exists," he said, adding that the authority had planned to prevent the watering of gardens in July but that recent rains had mitigated the danger of a water shortage.
