France: Syrian amnesty declaration came 'too late'

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe responded to Syria's announcement of amnesty for political prisoners.
"I fear it is too late," he said in a radio interview, noting the reaction of the Syrian opposition. "There were at least a thousand dead, perhaps more, and this will require the Syrian authorities to make a change that is much clearer, more ambitious, and more daring than simple amnesty," he added.
