Gulf states say will continue to work for Yemen peace

Gulf Arab states will continue their efforts to help Yemen reach a peaceful solution to the conflict after suspending their initiative last month, a Gulf Cooperation Council statement said on Thursday.

"Abdulattif al-Zayani, the secretary-general of the GCC, confirms the continuation of the GCC in exerting all efforts to help brothers in Yemen to reach a peaceful solution ending the ongoing fighting and to stop the bloodshed of the Yemeni people," the statement said. The GCC put its plan on hold on May 22 after diplomats failed to persuade Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh to sign the deal that would ease him out of power. (Reuters)
