Tens of thousands of people have gathered for Pope Benedict XVI's outdoor Mass in the Croatian capital dedicated to families.
Many people arrived before dawn at the field muddied by an overnight thunderstorm, hoping to get a good spot for the highlight of Benedict's two-day visit. By the time Benedict arrived Sunday morning, the sun was shining and the field, which has a capacity of some 300,000, was at least half full. (AP)
