The average monthly salary in March was NIS 8,996 ($2,658), the Central Statistics Bureau reported. The average salary increased by 0.4% over the period between January and March of this year, compared to a decrease of 0.2% that occurred in the last quarter of 2010.
The highest-paying employers were the national electric and water companies, with an average monthly salary of NIS 22,855 ($6,752). (Ran Rimon)
